Aquip were approached to assist a client with repairing an Autronica fire alarm system on a vehicle carrier vessel.

With the only trained Autronica AutroSafe 3 Service Engineer in Australia, our Perth team worked with the client to perform the repair.

Project	Autronica Fire Alarm System Repair
Project Overview	A vehicle carrier vessel desperately needed the fire alarm system repaired. The vessel runs a legacy Fire Alarm System, the Autronica AutroSafe 3, which was superseded by AutroSafe 4. The Aquip Perth team hold the only trained AutroSafe 3 Service Engineer in Australia. Our Service Engineer made arrangements to fly over to Melbourne to carry-out the repair.
Project Challenges	We were informed that the Australian Maritime Safety Authority had refused permission for the vessel to leave Brisbane. The vessel was taken to anchorage off Brisbane to await our Service Engineer’s arrival, where it later was brought into the port, ready and waiting for his arrival. Once our Service Engineer flew to Brisbane and examined the vessel, he noticed that the system had lost some of its programming. He worked to replace the EAC processor card with the spare, programmed the new card and initialised the system. Two faults were present at the reboot stage but were related to a limit switch on a fire door magnetic switch and were fixed by adjustment.
Project Results	The system eventually appeared as fault-free and the Surveyor later jumped on board, where the system was tested again and approved. The screen once again showed as fault-free – something we like to call the ‘Autronica Screen of Happiness.’
